Eating Local vs. What You Eat

Ohh, Science. Once again, an academic study has come forward to give us a mostly, almost totally sure answer to one of our big questions. Is it where your food comes from or how the food is grown? According to this guy, switching to a certain type of diet (eat more veggies) will help the environment more than eating local.

So can we agree to eat more locally grown veggies? Does it have to be one or another? What if I offset my carbon another way to make up for all of those cows I eat? What about the manure? Should we truck in more petrochemical fertilizers?
